Cornetto Salato with Prosciutto di San Daniele
We recently discovered a pastry shop close to our apartment on the Nomentana that has cornetti that resemble croissants, though slightly sweeter. They are baked fresh everyday and handmade, not like the cornetti that you find in bars that are frozen and baked that morning to appear fresh. They are delicious and we have picked up the habit of buying a few and making sandwiches out of them with prosciutto di san daniele, which is our favorite type of prosciutto crudo. San Daniele is from from Friuli-Venezia Giulia and is sweeter than Prosciutto di Parma, though just as prized.
